Pioneer Village

Nate and I went to a little museum today called the Pioneer Village.

The inside had a lot of artifacts of early pioneers and American Indians.  Outside they had several log cabins and other buildings.

This one looked like it had always been there.

This is a covered bridge that leads to the church.

This is a cute little church.

On the road again today

We left the Mobile area today and we traveled to Troy, AL.  We are really getting pretty good at moving, I don't know if that is good or bad.  LOL.  When we got to Troy, we found a small Catholic church, St. Martin of Tours and went to Saturday night Mass.  We are kicking back after eating a spaghetti dinner and having some of Nate's homemade wine.
Watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2.

Lulu's Restaurant and Perdido Key

Today we had a great day, eating at a cute little restaurant on the intercostal called Lulu's.  Lulu is really Lucy Buffet, Jimmy Buffet's sister.  We didn't see either of them, :(   LOL

A great day at the Naval Air Station Museum

Nate and I heard about the Blue Angels at Pensacola and decided to go watch them practice yesterday.  We thought we would have time to go get our mail and go see our new insurance agent that are in the area also.  Then we left for Pensacola, and missed the Blue Angels because we misjudged how long it would take to get there.  Today we are going to try again, leaving a lot earlier.  I hope we get to see them today.  Here are some pictures I took yesterday at the museum.

Easter with friends and a trip to Alabama

We packed up our "home" and went to PCB to have lunch with our friends before heading to Alabama.

Lunch was great!  Wonderful friends and great food.

We arrived at our next destination at Styx River Resort at 6:45pm and got set up in time to see half of Once Upon a Time.  Nate said we would have set up faster if it hadn't had such a talkative park host.  LOL

Looks like there are lots of things to do in the area, the next few days should be fun!

Rain and storms again

Yesterday was spent hanging out in our travel trailer because it rained the entire day.  The rain finally stopped long enough for us to go to church at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church for Good Friday and then went to McDonalds to get a couple of fish sandwiches.

This morning it's wet and nasty outside, but no more rain.  I cleaned up in our kitchen while Nate put some clothes in the washer down at the little laundry here at the campground.  It's back to church tonight for the Easter Vigil Mass and tomorrow is moving day.

We are going to eat Easter dinner tomorrow with our friends, Bob and Sue.  Then set out for a new destination, Styx River RV Park in Alabama.

We are spending the day just resting. We did go for a walk and bike ride today, though.

Beautiful night

Today was a very cool and windy day, but tonight the sunset was beautiful!

Stormy night and wet morning

Last night we had a very bad storm, I had a hard time sleeping.  Nate slept fine most of the night, though.  We woke up this morning to a very wet campground and more rain.

A walk on the Beach

Yesterday it was a beautiful day.  Sue and I walked on the beach and enjoyed the views.  Nate and Bob went golfing and had a great time!  Had a great supper with grilled burgers and potato salad, apple pie for dessert.  An all American kind of day.

Friends in Panama City Beach

Yesterday we parked our "home" and came to the beach to stay with friends because at our campground you can only stay a week at the discounted rate, then you have to leave for at least 1 night before you can get the discounted rate again.
We love staying with Bob and Sue, also Nate and Bob are playing golf this morning, so it worked out really well.
Nate and I made some dumplings in our camper a day or so ago, so we brought them to eat for supper last night.  Yum! - no chicken, because of Lent.

Pasta Dinner

Yesterday Nate and I fixed RV park.  We had about 4 families show up and had a good time talking to everyone. A few less than we expected, but a friendly group. Our little group plans to have a breakfast pitch next week.

Compass Lake Lodge - Olle's restaurant

Last night we went to a great little German restaurant that overlooks a beautiful lake.  We heard about it from a lady that was doing her laundry yesterday at the same time that we were doing ours.  The restaurant was run by immigrants from Gastonia.

The food was great, but the view was better.

Visiting Friends and getting our license plate, driver's license and new phone service

Nate and I went to PCB yesterday and visited our friends, Bob and Sue.  We stopped by and it was pouring down raining, Sue brought an umbrella out to our truck to help us get in before we got wet.  :)  We sat and talked about what we've been up to since last month when we were here for Nate and Bob to play in a golf tournament.
After we left their house, we stopped by the Verizon store and spoke to a sales person there about getting new phone service.  We also stopped by the license branch to check on what we need to get our new license.

Storms coming

We heard on the news today that there are some strong storms coming our way.  I hope and pray that they are just exaggerating.  We have plans to get some things done today.

Back home tonight and what a storm we had!  Lots of rain and tornado warnings.  Our campground has big puddles all over it.  I'm hoping tomorrow is better.

Travel to Florida and set up

Today Nate and I did laundry after we had breakfast and packed up to leave Pine Mountain.  We didn't sleep very well last night, so it seemed like a long drive.  It was really just about 5 hours, not too bad.  Here is a picture of the Southern Belles in Eufaula, AL.  We passed them on the way to Florida.  Nate said he finally found his real southern belles.

When we got here, Nate found out that we had to have a special part to hook up to their sewer system.  We found out that there was a Walmart where we could get it, but it was a 30min. drive.  So into the truck we went and got the part at Walmart.  While we were there, we found a tv for our bedroom and bought it, unfortunately it was a display item and they couldn't find the remote and box for it.  That took over 45 min. :( Needless to say, we are both ready for bed and it's only 9pm.

Mass at Wewahitchka, FL

We drove to Port St. Joe today to go to Mass and look around, however when we got there we found out that they are on EST instead of CST, so we missed Mass.  A lady walking out said that Fr. Phil (their pastor) goes to Wewahitchka and has Mass there after this Mass is over.  We drove to Wewa (as the locals call it) and went to Mass there.  It was the smallest church we had ever been to, only about 20 people at Mass.  The people were so friendly and they wanted us to come back next week for a pitch in.

Discovering North Florida and getting our mail

Today we tried to find another campsite that had cable or satellite. No luck yet, I guess I will be on-line and making some phone calls tonight.  We also went to Crestview, FL. This is where are mail is being sent.  We picked up our mail and Nate is going through it tonight.
We drove to Navarre, FL to look at a townhome, we both really liked it.  As Nate suggested, we are going to use it as our baseline and look for others over the next month that might work better for us, but so far this one is it.
Planning on going to church in the morning and riding down to Mexico beach and look at another townhome.

Day at Callaway Gardens

Nate and I visited Callaway Gardens today, we had a great time walking around and seeing all the beautiful flowers.

I am in heaven, with all the azaleas!

These pictures don't even come close to doing this justice.

Ida Callaway Chapel, this is in the woods, surrounded by a stream, waterfall and lake.  Such a peaceful setting.

At the entrance to the Butterfly Center, the orange one looks a little funny!  The next few are of butterflies, see if you can spot them.
